a robin
warming
a frosted gate
walking
a different path
on yesterday's footprints
in the kitchen
light on the curve
of a teaspoon
this broken gate
unbothered

I miss
the long pause
autumn morning
I scrape
my frosted window
each morning
the pine tree
facing the wind
passing a field
of scattered turnips
laughing
floating
against the oak
this winter sun

We are getting very good stuff on this forum suddenly! These are true haiku, Karen, and very strong. I love the first four to bits, and the pine tree facing the wind with patient endurance. I also like the idea of laughing turnips (!).
Nice Karen. I particularly love the last three - really lovely, and they all seem to have in common a curious sort of personification of the objects seen. Really effective!
